From Global Warming to Global Ice Age May 21, 2008

I remember someone saying that the global warming campaign was a political scare tactic used by United Nations to convince Americans of the dire necessity for Kyoto lest greedy capitalists destroy the planet. The may be some truth to that wise man’s prediction.

New scientific data shows the earth is now cooling. Some scientists are predicting a new ice age. Poor activist Al Gore. He sincerely has been working for the socialist good of humankind. Just when nature was cooperating, God and nature spoils all the fun and hard work. As other skeptical, if not, oppositional scientists have said, what global warming represented was a periodic cycle and in time the trend would reverse to a new cycle of cooling.

WordPress.com’s own meteorologist Anthony Watts, posted a number graphs providing evidence that the earth is cooling. The evidence does not exactly negate Al Gore’s Global Warming campaign evidence. As the following graph demonstrates, temperatures have trended upward since 1900.

However, new data and graphs reveal significant cooling over the past year. That is why some scientists are predicting the possibility of a new ice age.

See other scientific and statistical data included in Anthony Watt’s post titled 4 Sources say “globally cooler” in the past 12 months.

Now is time to start preparing for the new ice age. You can buy arctic apparel at places like All Thing Arctic, survival gear at Arctic Kingdom, and ice age vehicles like the Polaris snowmobile that you’ve always wanted.

Silly man. Do you not see how the average temperature fluctuates up and down and up and down from year to year? This particular fluctuation downward is due to the recent La Nina activity in the Pacific Ocean.

La Ninas and El Ninos have a cooling and warming effect on the average temperature, respectively. However, a discrepancy still exists between the average temperature as could be predicted by sun activity and other natural causes like La Ninas and El Ninos. Now see how the LONG-TERM trend is still moving up and up.

It’s the equivalent of the last place team predicting it will go undefeated the remainder of the season after 2 consecutive wins. Sorry but freezing time when it’s convenient to your argument is a fallacy.

From an examination of climate history, as presented at http://www.middlebury.net:80/op-ed/pangburn.html ), I discovered that carbon dioxide level had no significant effect on climate but there was no clue as to why this should be.

The reason why the carbon dioxide level has no significant influence on climate is revealed in papers by Dr. John Nicol, Dr. Jack Barrett and Dr. Heinz Hug. These papers are available on the web at http://www.ruralsoft.com.au/ClimateChange.doc , http://www.warwickhughes.com/papers/barrett_ee05.pdf , and http://www.john-daly.com/artifact.htm respectively.
From all this it is clear that all greenhouse gases do their thing (electromagnetic radiation energy at absorption wavelengths gets absorbed and converted to thermal energy) close (half of the energy that gets absorbed does so within 24 m or closer) to the earth’s surface. Some infra-red radiation (22.5% per Barrett) goes directly to space through the non-absorbing ‘window’ in greenhouse gases. The absorbed heat gets transported up via natural atmospheric convection. The only thing that additional CO2 does is LOWER the elevation at which absorption occurs. Doubling the carbon dioxide moves it about a meter. Since the energy absorbed by the greenhouse gases is transferred by and therefore controlled by convection, which is not detectably changed, more CO2 has no significant influence on climate.

“National Climate Data Center’s recent announcement of the coldest April in more than a decade and the 29th coolest since record keeping began 114 years ago. The average temperature was 1 degree cooler than the average April temperature of the entire 20th century.
A few weeks ago, as North America was emerging from one of its coldest and snowiest winters in decades, the climate center issued a statement saying that snow cover on the Eurasian land mass had been the most extensive ever recorded, and that this March had been only the 63rd warmest since 1895.
On April 24, the World Wildlife Fund published a study, based on September’s 2007 data, showing that Arctic ice had shrunk from 13 million square kilometres to just 3 million. What the WWF omitted was that by March the Arctic ice had recovered to 14 million square kilometres and that the ice cover around the Bering Strait and Alaska was at the highest level ever recorded…” —Investor’s Business Daily

Eric Hoffer, 1951 – “The True Believer – Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements”
Thoughts on Al Gore whose family fortune is enhanced by mining royalties from Tennessee coal and zinc. The mining is a fact of the need for the products of heavy industry; it’s the royalty that is considered parasitic by mining industry as ‘something for nothing’.
P.11
“When hopes and dreams are loose in the streets, it is well for the timid to lock doors , shutter windows and lie low until the wrath has passed. For there is often a monstrous incongruity between the hopes, however noble and tender, and the actions that follows them. It is as if ivied maidens and garlanded youths were to herald the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
And p.12
“People who see their lives as irremediably spoiled cannot find a worth-while purpose in self-advancement…Their innermost craving is for a new life – a rebirth – or failing this, a chance to acquire new elements of pride, confidence, hope, a sense of purpose and worth by an identification with a holy cause. An active mass movement offers them opportunities for both…” (V.P. Gore)
and P. 13
“ It is true that in the early adherents of a mass movement there are also adventurers who join in the hope that that the movement will give a spin to their wheel of fortune and whirl them to fame and power.” (op. cit)
