The SCHIP of Power Drunk Democrats (and a Few Republicans Too) November 5, 2007

Congress is worse than any lame duck president they would like to create. Democrats are drunk with power and intend to rip off the poor to bless the middle class with more welfare dependency. They have created a more socialist version of a conservative bill they know most Republicans and the President will not accept. Worse, they are completely unwilling to compromise. SCHIP was a welfare program to help poor and low-income families provide insurance for their children. Democrats want it available to middle-income families many of which already have health insurance. Democrats want adults covered under their version. The bill disallows adult coverage but then proceeds to give states the option of continuing adult coverage. Democrats want illegal immigrants covered as well.

Democrats and some Republicans apparently think Americans are stupid. They expect those poor Americans whose children need SCHIP to pay for what they cannot afford. Worse than that, Democrats also expect low-income Americans to pay for benefits middle-income families will receive under SCHIP. Not all Americans are as stupid as socialist Democrats believe. Some Americans are informed enough to see through the rhetoric of twenty-first century tyrants and their paternal intentions.

In the halls of Congress, you hear conversations among Democrat and liberal Republicans that go something like this: “If we keep taxing the mostly poor smokers, they will quit. If enough quit, then a new funding measure will be required. We will then be able to further our plans to implement universal healthcare. After all, we have achieved much of our socialist plans for welfare, other income security programs, regulation of the economy, and health care. So why not make the conservative’s SCHIP conform as well.”

Our founding ancestors were right about politicians, they cannot be trusted. They continue the practice of legislative deception and lying to achieve their agenda, which they learned from their late 19th and 20th century predecessors. The problem is many Americans do believe their lies. That is because mainstream media—the source of information for many Americans—objectively support the such plans and perpetuate the lies. With an abundance of alternative media outlets, the ability of politicians to deceive the public hopefully will forever change.

Nevertheless, the Senate has passed the new version of SCHIP, which the president promised to veto before the bill left the House of Representatives. On 1 November, the Senate passed SCHIP by a 64-30 vote, which also means Senate Democrats have enough Republican votes to override the President’s veto.

This leads to an amazing fact: 36% of Republicans are willing to rob the poor in order to pay middle class welfare benefits. Maybe they are really just socialist liberals parading as conservatives. As bad as that is, the fact that 100% of Senate Democrat are leading the socialist parody should not be overlooked. All socialist Democrats are willing to rob the poor to pay the richer while claiming to promote America’s general welfare.

If you have not contacted your Senators, now would be a good time.

The poor need all the help they can get. Democrats are not planning to help the poor. They intend to increase their power and further their goal of universal health care. They want more people—those who can afford and already pay for private insurance—on government health care insurance. If not by increasing the income tax for Medicare/Medicaid, then they will settle for sin taxes on tobacco for now. That means over 53% of Americans who need SCHIP will have to pay for SCHIP, according to a recent study by the National Center for Health Statistics. Americans can help the poor while maintaining the kind of government the framers of the Constitution intended by opposing the Democrats’ SCHIP bill.

In addition to contacting your Senators, consider voicing your opposition about SCHIP to the Senate Republicans listed below.
